Ocala Electric Utility Selects Fred Wilson & Associates to Provide Substation, Transmission and Distribution Design Services

Jacksonville, Fla. – Ocala Electric Utility recently awarded Fred Wilson & Associates a contract for engineering services related to power substation, transmission and distribution projects. The Central Florida utility has planned several expansion projects to increase power capacity to its customers.

As part of the contract, FW&A recently began designs on a series of projects that will create two new transmission loops on the east side of the city. Designs will include two 69-kV transmission lines with 12-kV underbuilt distribution and upgrades at four substations, which will serve as line termination points. Construction should complete by the end of 2009.

OEU also plans to add a 69/12-kV substation in the northeastearn section of the city. FW&A will design the new Fore Substation as well as two transmission lines that will tie it into the utility's system.
