Florida Engineering Society Names Gerald Baker Technician Of The Year

Jacksonville, Florida – The Northeast Florida Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society recently presented its annual Engineers Week Technician of the Year Award to Gerald Baker, vice president at Fred Wilson & Associates, Inc. Baker received the award Saturday at the Engineers Week Awards Banquet.

“For more than 40 years, Jerry Baker has provided Fred Wilson & Associates with superior engineering design and project leadership,” said FW&A President Frank Wilson II, P.E. “He entered the drafting field out of high school and now oversees our Civil Engineering Department.”

Baker specializes in engineering projects for roadway and bridge construction. He served as senior designer for the roadway approach systems on either side of the reconstructed Acosta Bridge in Downtown Jacksonville. This project included a four-level ramp interchange, railroad overpasses and interfaces with local streets and the Skyway Express people moving system. More recently, Baker helped lead a major lane-addition project for the Doctors Inlet Bridge and approach system in Orange Park, Fla.
