FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jacksonville, Florida – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) recently chose Fred Wilson & Associates to undertake two roadway design projects for Duval and Clay County. Project Manager Frank Wilson II, P.E. and the supporting design team have a long and successful history with the FDOT; Click here to read past experience.
Plans include the addition of two northbound turn lanes to SR-15, spanning from just south of the Orange Park Kennel Club to the 1-295 eastbound ramp. According to the 2005 Transportation Improvement Study, this segment of roadway is currently over capacity; the project will solve this crisis while alleviating morning traffic congestion.
Additionally, FW&A will design milling and resurfacing plans for Cassat Avenue from I-10 to W Beaver Street. The pavement at I-10 is in serious disrepair and pedestrian safety is an issue throughout the project limits. Among other ideas, FW&A proposed a shift in the alignment of Highway Avenue 5 feet to the north to help truckers make turns they cannot otherwise safely accomplish.
