JEA Selects FW&A for Significant 230-kV Transmission System Addition
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jacksonville, Florida –JEA, the largest municipal electric utility in Florida, confirmed their long-term confidence in Fred Wilson & Associates by selecting FW&A to design a new 230-kV transmission circuit from the FP&L Duval Substation to the JEA Jax Heights Substation. The design will cover a distance of approximately 11 miles, and has an aggressive schedule.
This project involves a significant coordination effort with wetland permitting agencies relating to the transmission line and associated access / patrol road. Permits are also required for City of Jacksonville tree mitigation, FDOT state road crossings and parallelism, Florida EMF compliance, and from the FAA.
The electrical design effort will include obtaining survey data and soil borings, structure and foundation calculations, preparing specifications and documents for pole purchase, designing the transmission circuit using PLS-CADD software, and preparing specifications and plan & profile drawings for construction. Portions of the 230-kV circuit will overbuild existing 26-kV distribution lines.
The civil design effort will include stormwater analysis, and preparing specifications and plan & profile drawings for construction of the access / patrol road.
